Who We Are

Faith. Action. Results.

Our Mission

Catholic Relief Services carries out the commitment of the Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and vulnerable overseas. We are motivated by the Gospel of Jesus Christ to cherish, preserve and uphold the sacredness and dignity of all human life, foster charity and justice, and embody Catholic social and moral teaching.

We promote development by helping people in need as they move toward self-sufficiency. We respond to major emergencies, fight disease and poverty, and nurture peaceful and just societies.

Our Foundation

Founded in 1943 by the Bishops of the United States to assist survivors and refugees of World War II in Europe, CRS has expanded to become one of the largest and most respected humanitarian organizations in the world.

As the official international agency of the Catholic community in the United States, we work in solidarity with local church partners, governments, and secular organizations to serve all people on the basis of need, not creed, race, or nationality.

Stewardship & Financial Accountability

At CRS, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of stewardship. We ensure that your donations are maximized to support lives directly in the communities we serve.

Where Your Donation Goes

More than 90% of our expenditures go directly to our emergency relief and development programs. This high efficiency rate makes CRS one of the most reliable and trusted charities in the world.

We are audited annually and are recognized with top ratings by major charity navigators, including the Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance and Charity Navigator.
